Maybe there are some good deals on GM & Chrysler cars

Previously I posted that it didn't look like there were bargains on Chrysler cars due to their bankruptcy. But maybe the deals are out there and you just have to hunt.

This article from CNN points out a half dozen cars from GM & Chrysler that they consider "deals" right now. There are some very big discounts on certain models. According to them can get a Hummer for around $34,000 which is almost $9,000 less than the sticker. Course gas will cost you a lot more over the life of the car. The Chrysler 300C is going for under $30,000 which is about $8,000 less than sticker.

I don't know but to me most of those "deals" seem pretty typical. Getting $2,000 to $9000 off of a $35,000 to $45,000 car doesn't seem like much of a bargain. But maybe thats just my attitude about paying over $30,000 for a new car when I could instead buy a great 2 year old car for half as much and end up saving tons of money in the long run.

But it does seem like there has to be some room to get a good deal on a new GM or Chrysler right now. The dealers are undoubtedly feeling the pinch of the turmoil with the companies and they ought to be in some pressure to make some profits. If you've been looking to buy a new GM or Chrysler then right now might be a good time to go negotiate a bargain.
