We're #2!! We're #2!! We're #2!! ... Except we're still #1.

This article 10 Industries in Which the U.S. Is No Longer No.1 via Yahoo list various industries that the U.S.A is no longer #1.   In most of them we've dropped down to #2.

According to the article the industries that the U.S. is no longer in the lead are :

1. Autos = Position: 2nd
2. Beer Production = Position: 2nd
3. High-Technology Exports = Position: 2nd
4. Commercial Aircraft Production= Position: 2nd
5. Coal Production = Position: 2nd
6. Lettuce Production = Position: 2nd
7. Oil Production  = Position: 3rd
8. Rice Production = Position: 11th
9. Wind Energy Generated = Position: 2nd
10. Pork Production = Position: 2nd

As you can see we're now 2nd in many industries. 

But don't fret.   We don't all have to run out and plant rice in our back yard to help improve our nations raking above the 11th place spot.   The U.S.A. is still #1 in the larger sense.   We still have the highest GDP.   Our nation is still the wealthiest country.   Its unlikely that we'll be surpassed by any other nation in these major categories any time soon.
